Alfred Eisenstaedt
(1898-1995)
Eisenstaedt was a highly regarded photographer and photojournalist, famous for his candid photos. He began as a freelance photographer, working for the Berliner Tageblatt. In 1929, he became a full-time professional photographer, and in 1935, he emigrated to the United States. Eisenstaedt spent the majority of his career (from 1936-1972) as a photographer for LIFE Magazine. In 1989, Alfred was awarded the National Medal of Arts.
