Alfred Stieglitz
(1864-1946)
An American photographer, he was a pioneer in the field of artistic photography. He was
especially creative in his taking pictures of isolated parts of the human body (like the famous
pictures of American painter Georgia O'Keefe's hands). In addition to photography, Stieglitz also worked to promote the work of modern artists like O'Keefe, to whom he was married. In the
early 1900's, he reopened his private gallery in New York, under the name "291".
Following are some of Stieglitz's works. 1. "The Terminal"; 2. "Hand of Man"; 3. "The Steerage"; 4. Georgia O'Keefe's hands
